We took a trip to Floyd for the 4th of July fireworks. Festivities started at 4pm, but we've been there before...and knew it was best to arrive just before dark. i could elaborate on that..but i won't. :)
They had a nice stage set up, with local folks playing bluegrass gospel music. An interesting combination...that i just do not care much for. So we walked over to the playgrounds until it darkened up a bit more.

Sage loved this purple dinosaur, and climbed right onto it and hugged it's neck and gave it kisses.
Sequoia ran into a couple of classmates. He played 'Star wars' with his friend Lucas, and had a few minutes to talk with his friend Dakota before the fireworks started.
Sage was absolutely terrified by the fireworks and cried "car ride! car ride!" The entire time. i asked her if she thought the lights were pretty, and she scream " Not pretty, not pretty!!". Poor kid.
The budget for fireworks this year must have been really low. The fireworks lasted all of 6 minutes...maybe. The finale was so weak, that folks were not sure it had been the finale. :) Everyone just kind of sat there, waiting to see what was going to happen next. We eventually got up and wandered back to our cars and drove home.
i still love my small town.
